Afterglow by ageofloss Afterglow by ageofloss
Here's a shot I took yesterday when I was driving around Pellinge, Finland with *Toope.
We kinda missed most of the actual sunset, but took lots of pictures of the afterglow. The darker it got the longer exposure times I used, which softened the wavy waters nicely. No filters were used in the shooting process.

Hope you like it =)

Now that is an incredible shot, especially with the blurry ocean. :)

Nice job.

A sunset alone is worth watching and photographing over and over again and hopefully, will never cease to fascinate human-beings. But what I particularly like about this shot, is your exposure time: You let the water look like some kind of desert, endless plains of sand. Nice!

Breathtaking. I love how the water looks like liquid ice (okay, that doesn't make sense but it doesn't look like water nor ice but something in between) and how it makes everything a little eerie. The yellows and oranges of the shot balance the blues well, and I adore that single star in the sky. Not to forget the delicious texture of the rocks, bravo.

Also, reminded me of a Fazerin sininen ad, sininen hetki so to say. :3

Wow! I have a question though and I hope you can answer it!:

I have read that the maximum time on shutter speed on Canon EOS 350d is 30 sec, yet you have "Shutter Speed: 124/1 second" in the meta data.
How come? Im leaning towards buying a 350d so I have many sources =].

Thanks in advance! Beautiful picture, once again.

yep, using 350D the 30 secs is the longest the shutter can stay open unless you're using the bulb function and a remote control, with those you can lock the shutter open for as long as you like. I have exposed many pictures for an hour or so, the only limit is the battery, when it runs out you're done with exposing :)

Thanks for the comment.

Cool! Thanks for your answer, it's nice to know what I am going to buy :>

One hour? You don't happen to have any examples of those picutres? I searched quickly in your (extremely) great galley but found none of +1 hour exposures.

Absolutely great! I see you used the Bulb function to get that "smooth" effect on the rocks... did I see It right?

Yep, in 350D 30 secs is the longest value for long exposures, if you want to go longer than that you need the bulb function :D

Very nice I must say.
How did you calculate the exposure for 124 sec?
and did you use a remote control?
