Artist's Comments

I have taken a few night shots before and some of them are actually in my gallery, but it's still a fairly new thing to me and something that I want to practise in the future. There are so many things that can go wrong and waiting for your camera to exposure several minutes only to find out that the picture is over- or underexposed is frustrating. However, if you take landscape pictures you usually get several chances to capture the scene, fortunately.

Naturally, the darkness makes the equipment handling rather difficult and my fingers don't seem to work all that well in cold brisk air.
Good thing is there's no one else in the woods in the middle of the night to hear me curse out loud.

I left the moon out of the picture on purpose, cause it would have looked like a giant star when overexposed.

Hope you like this one =P

Smart of you to remove the moon. ;)

great shot, and some short star trails starting to appear. Would be great if they were longer but thats the way the cookie crumbles.

This piece if fantastic - A+

I need to get a remote release to start doing more star trails. I took a few with my D50 as I had the infrared remote for it but its max shutter time was 30 minutes.

I now have a d200 with max shutter time of god knows how many hours, but the battery drains after 80minutes lol. I have dual battery support so thats 160 minutes - but i don't have a remote shutter for it! grrr

wonderful piece of work. I love this!
