The Ascension by ageofloss The Ascension by ageofloss
The object is a nutshell. I'm sure you'd ask me that! :D

Edition: made it a bit smaller.

Thanks :)
I used a large sheet of paper as a background and it seemed to work pretty well :)

I filled a fish tank with water, kept dropping the nutshell and shooting. It's actually an underwater picture that I turned upside down :) Thanks for the comment.

The idea here is nice, and the vertical flip and the underwater point of view (I hope I didn't misinterpret this) makes the photograph stand out from the dozens of "ripples in water, whoa" pictures out there. The colors are also pretty - especially the orange reflection in the water. I'd prefer you submitted the image to photomanipulations however, although I don't exactly know how much you have edited this one. Submitting the original shot in scraps might be a nice alternative.

Creative treatment, to turn it upside down, and the title is perfect. You were right to keep it out of the photomanipulation section; the adjustments you describe would not warrant that label, in my opinion (eg, you didn't turn the nut-shell into a UFO and add little green men in the windows...) ;)

A lovely shot

Meant to ask you...is your username (and its acronym) an intentional statement about AOL the company? Or just a funny coincidence?

Good to see you seperated your name, i went a few months thinking your name was "age of floss". I suggest you hold a poll to see how many people acctually got your name right the first time the saw it :)

Hehe. I get that everyday, honestly I do. Holding a poll about it doesn't sound like a bad idea, too bad I already know what everyone would say :)

Really awesome photo though, it's so sharp and the ripples are just amazing. The little reddish spot is really nice too:)
