The Realm Of Dreams by ageofloss The Realm Of Dreams by ageofloss
Another shot from the trip to Pellinge with *Toope. On our way back, we found this little lake and decided to take some long exposure shots at it. Standing there and gazing at the sky made me feel quite small. The yellowish glow is not the sun setting, but light pollution of nearby cities, which I never seem to be able to escape.

The exposure wasn't long enough to create long star trails, but enough to stretch the moon a little bit - don't let that bug you too much hehe.

Hope you like this one :)

Also check out the previous shots from the trip Afterglow by me and Under The Stars by *Toope.

hi aol...

nice shot!! just wondering, u have a 350D, n ur exposure was 380+secs...that's like 5 mins, without post-processing, did u photo get any hot-pixels? coz my 400D gets a fair bit of hot pixels under low light & long exposure...like anything longer than 30 secs?? if urs do, how did u get rid of them? thx for any advice...

Super  Very rad long exposure. I love when there's water involved in photos showcasing swirling stars, like this. It accentuates the painterly quality of the sky. Very dreamy and pleasant. The house with the light on gives this piece just the right amount of human touch, breathing life and personality.

Awesome stuff

wow. i mean, honestly, WOW. i hate you :-D the stars look great, too bad for the moon, though.

how do you get maximum depth of field in such low light conditions? i'm guessing the depth of field preview doesn't work in the dark :)

also, how do you know how long to hold the shutter open in bulb mode? is it just experience or is there a method to this?

i'm off to fav this! ;-)

Inspiraatio taas löytynyt huomaan ma. ;)

Nätti on kuin sika pienenä. Ihan aavistuksen verran on mun mielestä sellainen harmaa kalvo kuvan päällä. Ihan pieni ripaus kontrastia lisää auttaisi. Ei todellakaan paljoa, mutta sen aavistuksen verran. Vaikka usm:llä.

Feiveihin tää silti menee.

This view iis like the faraway "vision"-scene in the film 'Contact'.
[... when the heroine travelled with that "spaceship" to the alien callers' place... and they built up vision-based surroundings using her own memories and dreams.]
Beautiful. :)

Very majestic!! Approx how long was the exposure?

I hate the light pollution from cities... I live just outside of a city with a pop. of 80 000, and even 45 minutes AWAY from the city you can't escape the light pollution!

It's in the exif data: Shutter Speed: 380/1 second =P That is 380 seconds.
Yeah I always have the same problem, but thankfully sometimes the pollution actually fits the picture.
